Buenavista, Bohol – In January 2022, following the devastation of Typhoon Odette, Taskforce Odette Oplan Balik Liwanag initiated the restoration of electricity in the municipality of Buenavista, Bohol. Primary Structures Educational Foundation, Inc. (PSEFI) partnered with Bohol Electric Cooperative 2 (BOHECO 2), Artemis Marine & Industrial Construction, Inc. (AMICI), and the local government of Buenavista to fast-track the repair of damaged electrical posts and lines along the national road.
AMICI, which was then constructing a shipyard in Brgy. Cruz mobilized its boom truck to BOHECO 2 to distribute the primary electrical poles to different areas, and the skilled workers were deployed to carry out critical activities such as pole erection, hole digging, rigging, and clearing of the area, which will help in the restoration work. AMICI offered its assistance to BOHECO 2 to initiate power restoration in the areas covered by BOHECO 2 from Buenavista to Jagna, Bohol.
The initiative began on January 7, 2022, and ended on April 6, 2022, which was also in partnership with Local Government Units and Power Cooperatives such as BOHECO, CAMSURECO, SAMELCO, and SURECO. The Taskforce Odette successfully brought back electricity to most homes in Buenavista within weeks.
After the progress made in Buenavista, planning for the second phase of the initiative moved forward, with the town of Getafe identified as the next beneficiary. Through the united efforts of public and private partners, the province took steady steps toward recovery.
