PRB of Naval Architecture Inspects AMICI Shipyard Facilities in Buenavista, Bohol

Buenavista, Bohol – In June 2025, as part of its nationwide inspection and monitoring efforts, the Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Naval Architecture conducted an official site visit to Artemis Marine and Industrial Construction, Inc. (AMICI) in Barangay Cruz, Buenavista, Bohol.AMICI Shipyard, a rising player in the Philippine shipbuilding industry, welcomed the PRB delegation led by Hon. William Hernandez, Officer-in-Charge Chairperson, and Hon. Rizalito Lanoy, Board Member. They were joined by Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) representatives Ms. Ciove-An Angel E. Pabayos, Ms. Ma Christine O. Malanog, and Mr. Jethro C. Cahutay.



The team toured AMICI’s expanding shipyard facilities, including the drydock, steel fabrication areas, assembly lines, and newly installed equipment. The inspection focused on evaluating safety compliance, engineering practices, and adherence to the technical standards outlined in Republic Act No. 10698, also known as the Naval Architecture Modernization Act of 2015.PRB officials also engaged with AMICI engineers, naval architects, and site supervisors to discuss operational practices, workforce development, and industry challenges. The dialogue revealed AMICI’s dedication to improving local shipbuilding capacity while ensuring alignment with national and international maritime safety standards.



Under Section 7 of RA 10698, the Board is mandated to monitor conditions affecting the practice of naval architecture and promote high ethical and professional standards. AMICI’s continued investment in its workforce and shipyard development aligns with this mission, showcasing strong national potential in ship construction and marine repair.The PRB inspection marks a milestone for AMICI, highlighting the company’s commitment to compliance and its growing role in the maritime sector. The Board emphasized the importance of professional collaboration between government and private shipyards in advancing the industry.
