BUENAVISTA, BOHOL — Artemis Marine and Industrial Construction, Inc. (AMICI), a proudly Filipino company under the Primary Group of Builders (PGB), has taken a major step in advancing the country’s maritime sector with the unveiling of a cutting-edge ship repair facility in Bohol on November 28, 2023. This milestone represents a bold advancement in the Philippines’ shipbuilding and repair capabilities, driven by innovation, infrastructure, and skilled talent.

Strategically located in Barangay Cruz, Buenavista, the 19-hectare shipyard is one of the largest in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. With its proximity to Cebu—one of the country’s busiest shipping hubs—AMICI is poised to become a vital center for vessel maintenance and repair in the Philippines.

Setting a New Standard in Maritime Infrastructure

Under the leadership of CEO Engr. William Christopher U. Liu, Jr., General Manager, Alvin G. Basal, and Senior Operations Manager, Engr. Pantaleon Giangan, Jr., AMICI has established a world-class facility equipped with modern maritime technologies. The shipyard can currently accommodate up to 12 vessels measuring 100 meters in length for drydocking and is set to expand its capacity to service 20 ships.

Among the services offered are drydocking, hull preservation, vessel conversion, and structural fabrication. Its advanced infrastructure includes a slipway, railway systems, carriages, cranes, and a full-service machine shop—all designed to maximize operational efficiency and ensure high-quality outcomes.

Driving Economic Growth and Regional Development

Licensed by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) in 2022, AMICI represents the first major industrial investment in Buenavista, Bohol. The project is already creating employment opportunities and spurring local economic activity through job generation and supplier partnerships.

Bohol Governor Erico Aris Aumentado expressed support for the development, recognizing AMICI’s potential to attract further investment and help advance the goal of establishing the Second District of Bohol as an economic zone. With its presence in Buenavista, AMICI is helping pave the way for inclusive economic growth and long-term regional progress.

Investing in Filipino Talent

Beyond infrastructure, AMICI champions human capital development. Founded by the Primary Group of Builders in 2018, the company is supported by PGB’s education and workforce initiatives, including the School of Knowledge for Industrial Labor, Leadership, and Service (SKILLS) and a Maritime Cadetship Program. These initiatives aim to produce a new generation of skilled maritime professionals and ensure that local communities benefit from sustainable, long-term employment.

As a member of the PGB family—renowned for over 70 years of excellence in construction, real estate, logistics, and industrial solutions—AMICI upholds a legacy of quality, innovation, and community development.
